UI Design (Case Study)
The project was made as a case study for EBAC's (Escola Britância de Artes Criativas) UI Design course. Along the course, various tasks were accomplished, with this project as the final and conclusive one.
The challenge:
"Create a landing page for a company focused on finances"
With the challenge in mind, the research started. With a benchmarking phase, I could gather references from other landing pages. This exercise created expectations and demonstrated what might (and might not) work on a landing page.
Based on the benchmarking, the wireframe phase could start. Everything started with a sketch on paper, so the process could be faster and allow any mistakes to happen and be corrected faster.
After this process, the wireframe that was on paper could now be digitized. Now that the interface was a little more concrete, it was time to think about the visuals. Would I use photos? What colors should I use? And what fonts?
A color study was now made, using colors commonly seen on financial companies and on the landing pages that were on the benchmarking.
The colors chosen were green and purple, applying what was learned from studying other financial companies and using the Complementary Color Wheel theory.
The font chosen for the project was an an easy to read and to apply font: Roboto, that can be downloaded from Google Fonts. It has good legibility on desktops and also mobile devices.
With the visuals defined, now it was time to upgrade the wireframes. Using the base that was created, now high fidelity wireframes were now ready, also thinking about responsiveness.
The basic concepts of the course were now applied on the page, and everything was ready. It was a great experience and a very good way to think about the whole process of making a website.
Thank you very much for reading! :)
